3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
I decided to do a focus group with a few people from my a2 media class to see what they like and dislike about my ancillary tasks and my music video. The reason I chose my a2 classmates is because they fit in with my audience who I aimed my music video and ancillary tasks at. I done this through a questionnaire, I have learned quite a few things from this.
The audience liked a few things what were the narrative, the location and the editing. They said they liked these certain things because it conformed to the conventions for my genre. The reason they liked the narrative was because it went with the lyrics and made them feel like the artists were reaching out to them. They liked the location because it went with the genre and the song and it was not just stuck in one place. They also liked the editing because it matched the beat of the song which every music video consists of this.
A majority of the audience did not like the lip syncing because on some of the shots it did not match with the timing right. The reason this was is because it made it look unprofessional as every popular music video in the indie folk genre and other genres match the song to the lyrics just right so that when the audience watch it they do not feel uncomfortable watching it.
When reading back through the questionnaire feedback form my audience they said that they liked my ancillary tasks and my music video as it was consistent. They said that the way it all links together with the colours, pictures and font so that if they see one of the products they would know what band it was and be able to link them to other products.
Overall I have learnt that I should look into my audience more and listen to them. If I were to produce another music video, next time I would focus a lot more on my lip syncing and make sure it matches up to the song and if I am unsure of it to keep filming it so that I have a variety of the same scene that I can choose from to make sure that my music video looks professional.
