4. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Brand identity is very important when it comes to any media product. This is because it represents the genre, it gives a specific look, it makes a connection with the artist and it will make an impression towards the audience.

When it comes to music videos, digipaks and magazine adverts, they all link together to maximise the sales of the products. This is so when the audience see's one of the products they know that it will link to the other.

My digipak and magazine advert link to one another because i have used the same colour and font which is very import as this helps the audience recognise it. As well as i used the same band picture on the front cover of the digipak to the magazine advert. 

The pictures that i have used on my digipak are all the photo's from when we shot the music video, this is to show a link between all three products. The photo that i have used on my digipak and magazine advert is a shot from behind the scenes when filming at the forest therefore this photo is effective as it is also in the music video as well as on the other products.

On the side of the digipak i used a picture of the beach that we got, this is the same as the shot we got in the music video. Also behind the three panels where the cd is, is a landscape pictures of beach huts from Wells. This shows that my digipak was very effective as i tried to link them all together so that anyone from the audience would be able to recognise one another.

On my digipak i made the background a neutral brown as i thought it went with the indie folk genre. I also did this on the magazine advert for the background to show off the genre as well as linking it to the digipak to show that it was effective.

When creating my music video some of the scenes came out a bit dull so when i was editing them i changed the colour lighter to give it a more happier and lighter look so that i could get the lyrics to match the narrative and reach out to the audience. This was effective because i also made the pictures on my digipak and magazine advert lighter to show the same thing so this would be recognisable to the audience and they would be able to link all three products together that is why it was quite effective.

I feel that i have been able to show a good level of combination with my media products such as the music video, digipak and the magazine advert. I have shown the effectiveness of it which is that the audience is able to recognise the brand identity when looking at either of the products because i have linked them together by using similar if not the same colours and the same locations.
